Privacy Policy
The short version. StrideHeist collects only what it needs to turn your remaining steps into a walking mission: your location, your step count, and the email you sign in with. We run no ads, we do not sell your data, we use no third party analytics, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
1. Who we are
StrideHeist ("StrideHeist," "we," "us") is operated by Olamiji Kareem. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at hello@strideheist.com.
This policy explains what we collect, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. It applies to the StrideHeist app on iPhone.
2. Information we collect
Location data
With your permission, we collect your precise device location to generate walking routes, size missions to your step gap, and track your progress while a mission is active. Location is used while the app is in use for an active mission. You can grant or revoke location access at any time in your device Settings, though the core routing features will not work without it.
Step and motion data
We collect your step count and related motion data from your device to detect how many steps you have left, build missions, and track completion, streaks, and rank. This fitness data is used only to operate the app. It is never used for advertising and is never sold.
Account information
When you create an account using Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google, we receive an email address so we can identify your account and save your progress, codename, streaks, and rank. If you use Sign in with Apple's private relay, we receive only the relayed address. We do not receive your social account password.
Purchase information
If you buy Founder Lifetime, the purchase is processed by Apple through the App Store. We receive confirmation that you are entitled to the purchase so we can unlock it on your account and add you to the Founders Wall. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.
3. How we use your information
- Generate walking routes and missions and track them in real time.
- Maintain your account, codename, streaks, and rank progression.
- Deliver purchases you make and your place on the Founders Wall.
- Keep the app working, and diagnose crashes and technical problems.
4. How your information is shared
We share information only as described here.
- Mapbox. To generate routes and display maps, location data is sent to our mapping provider, Mapbox, which also collects telemetry about map usage. This is handled under Mapbox's own privacy policy.
- Apple and Google. We use Sign in with Apple and Sign in with Google for account creation. Your sign-in is handled by those providers.
- Apple. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store.
- Content you choose to share. When you share a mission report or debrief card, the content you share, which may include your codename and mission stats, goes to the people or platforms you send it to. That sharing is started by you.
We do not sell your personal information, we do not share it with advertisers, and we use no third party advertising or analytics tools.
5. Crash and diagnostic data
We rely only on Apple's built in crash reporting to understand and fix problems. We do not use any third party analytics or crash reporting tools.
6. Data retention
We keep your account information and progress for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, or ask us to delete your data, we remove it, except where we are required to keep certain records by law.
7. Your choices and rights
- Permissions. You can change or withdraw location and motion permissions at any time in your device Settings.
- Access, correction, deletion. You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information by emailing hello@strideheist.com.
- Account deletion. You can delete your account and its associated data in the app: open Settings and select Delete Account. Deletion is processed within 30 days of your request. You can also email us at hello@strideheist.com.
California residents
If you live in California, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request its deletion or correction, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share your personal information for cross context behavioral advertising. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. To make a request, email hello@strideheist.com.
Canada
If you are in Canada, you have the right to access and correct your personal information and to withdraw consent, subject to legal and contractual limits. Contact us at hello@strideheist.com.
8. Security
We use reasonable measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children
StrideHeist is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. International users
We operate StrideHeist from Canada, and your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where we or our providers operate. Those countries may have different data protection laws than your own.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top, and for material changes we will provide a clearer notice.
